Introducing Ourselves
First, let us say thank you for taking the time to visit our site and store. MyExtraCards has been around for quite a while, but we’re just now starting to really build a business around our beloved hobby. We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to do this, even if it is just a side business.
We’ve been collecting sports trading cards for decades, and will continue to do so for decades to come. We love this hobby and everything about it. We all have our favorite sports, teams and players that we like to follow. For many of us, collecting as adults is reminiscent of our childhoods. Not to mention that this hobby, if done correctly, can act as a very good financial investment for the future.
You don’t have MyExtraCards without Steve O’Day. He’s been collecting sports trading cards since the 1960’s. In the 1980’s, he sold and traded cards out of his basement. His collection continued to grow over time until he started MyExtraCards in the 2000’s. He started by just selling his extra cards on auction websites and the business began to grow.
Somewhere around 2012 he brought his sons into the business as partners – Josh and Jason. They have been collecting sports cards since they were very young in the 1980’s, following in their dad’s footsteps.
Today, we’re very happy to be launching our new website, store and brand. We feel it is a symbol of growth – not just of our business, but our hobby in general. The sports trading card industry is booming, and we find it important to keep tabs on the pulse of the entire industry so that we can better assist our fellow collectors.
We don’t have every single card ever made, but we do have a lot of them. Millions, actually. As most long time collectors know, it doesn’t take long to start having your single cards pile up and grow in number. So if you are looking for any single cards to complete a set, or for more high-value modern cards, or for boxes and even cases – we can help you. We can even provide the supplies you need to take care of your investment, such as storage boxes, sleeves, and more.
